WASHINGTON, DC – January 15, 2024, The National Environmental Banking Association and EcoBlu Analyst™ Announce the release of a viewable/downloadable GIS ArcGIS layer of U.S. Mitigation and Conservation Banks, locations, contacts and more for the community of Esri users.
This collection of geographic information and associated maps, apps, and data layers are additional resources for ArcGIS users to understand mitigation within their project and regional context, and it is made available by the industry association NEBA to further the goal of no net loss of wetlands.
This new GIS layer and data is intended for those seeking environmental offsets for projects with unavoidable impacts to streams, wetlands, and species habitats. It enables engineers, architects, land planners, governments, and others improved decision-making for sustainable planning and site design.
“With the release of this environmental data, we hope to help lessen the ultimate impact of development and human progress on our Nation’s water and wildlife habitats,” said Michael Sprague who heads up EcoBlu Analyst™. “Real ecological offset exists, and sorting the wheat from the chaff in this arena remains a vital mission at our firm and for the Environmental Banking Industry. Our continued collaboration with Esri will continue to benefit organizations focused on development of green and grey infrastructure, land stewardship, and a variety of other conservation and ecological restoration opportunities,” he said.
Daniel Martin, from Esri notes: “Accurate and up-to-date data is critical for making informed environmental decisions which benefit biodiversity and increase climate resilience. The addition of mitigation data from EcoBlu Analyst to the community of some 300,000 organizations using the Esri platform will provide new insights to a spectrum of environmental workflows."
