Mitigation Banks Cut Permitting Times in Half

U.S. Army Corps Data Show Permitting Times Significantly Reduced through permittee use of Mitigation Bank credits

According to analysis of ORM2 data received under FOIA from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, those seeking environmental permits are best to use Mitigation Banks in answering the need for mitigation.  Purchasing credits from a Mitigation Bank cuts permitting time in half when considering other forms of offset.

This new analysis from the National Environmental Banking Association (NEBA) shows that undertaking permittee-responsible mitigation is by contrast the slowest option for obtaining most permits required when compensating for unavoidable losses under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.
